Gaige Herrera captures his second Pro Stock Motorcycle victory of the season
Gaige Herrera returned to form in impressive fashion on Sunday at Bristol Dragway, capturing his second Pro Stock Motorcycle victory of the season and becoming the first rider in class history to earn multiple wins at Thunder Valley.
Riding the RevZilla / Motul / Vance & Hines Suzuki, Herrera defeated teammate Richard Gadson in the final round with a 6.838-second pass at 198.47 mph. The victory marks the 30th national event win of Herrera’s career and comes just one race after an uncommon first-round exit in Maryland.
Herrera entered the weekend on a mission, securing the No. 1 qualifying position before advancing past Joey Gladstone and Steve Johnson to reach the final. In the championship round, Gadson gained an early advantage with an outstanding .018 reaction time, but Herrera’s Suzuki had enough performance to close the gap and take the win stripe.
Gadson continued his strong season with another runner-up finish, advancing to his second consecutive Bristol final and the 13th final-round appearance of his career. He reached the final by defeating Wesley Wells, Chase Van Sant, and Chris Bostick.
Despite the final-round loss, Gadson maintains the Pro Stock Motorcycle points lead, holding a 68-point advantage over Angie Smith, while Herrera remains firmly in championship contention in third place.
